Well done to our client Alice Douglass and her colleagues for organising a pension drop-in. This ties in with a national awareness campaign, which is a great hook to hang a press release on.

A Wiltshire firm of independent financial advisers is staging a free drop-in surgery to answer questions on pensions and retirement planning, as part of a national pension awareness campaign.

The team from Grosvenor Consultancy will open the doors of their Highworth offices on Thursday September 12, and are inviting people to pop in and pose their pension-related questions, and enjoy tea or coffee and a cake at the same time

Their event is being run in conjunction with National Pension Awareness Day, which takes place each September, and aims to promote the importance of saving for retirement by paying into a pension.

Grosvenor’s independent financial advisers Alice Douglass, Amanda Barnett and Ian Young, will be on hand from 9.30am to 6.30pm at their offices in Highworth High Street to chat about pensions – and they say that no question is too simple or too complicated.

“People may want to know things like how much they should be saving, when they can retire, or perhaps how they can find out what State pension they will get in retirement,” said Alice. “They may simply want an explanation of what pensions are and what retirement planning means. Whatever their query, we are happy to help.”

Although the day is geared around a drop-in, pre-booked appointments are also available. If people need more information after the visit, the team are also offering free, one hour follow up consultations.

With surveys suggesting some 60 per cent of people admit they don’t understand enough about pensions, the Grosvenor team believe Pension Awareness Day is an important part of the calendar.

Alice added: “Our mission at Grosvenor is to help provide structure and direction to our clients’ finances, and pensions and retirement planning form an important part of this. We want to help educate people so they don’t simply hand over money for a pension, but they understand what their situation is so they feel empowered and can make informed decisions.”
